The battle for Iowa's 2018 Best Burger is on. The 10 finalists have been named and they're from all over the Hawkeye state. However, Cedar Rapids and Ames are the only cities that each have two finalists!

First of all, congratulations to the two Cedar Rapids entrants in the contest! Saucy Focaccia first started out as a food truck, back in 2013. They then opened a location in NewBo City Market and now have a store in the Fountains at 5100 Fountains Drive NE, Suite 100. It's at the corner of Blairs Ferry and Edgewood Road Northeast.

The other Cedar Rapids restaurant to make the "cut," is BurgerFiend. It first opened its doors in Cedar Rapids in 2014 and is located at 3980 Center Point Road N.E. Their name changed a bit at the beginning, but the food has always been great and it's being recognized now at the statewide level.

Here's the map showing the other eight restaurants vying for the title of Iowa's 2018 Best Burger. According to the Iowa Cattlemen, the contest is now up to a panel of judges who will visit all the restaurants and grade them on three factors: Their appearance, taste, and if they're cooked to 160 degrees.

This year's winner will be announced May 1, and we really hope it's one of the Cedar Rapids restaurants. Our city has never had the winning restaurant, and it's time to change that. You bet we're partial and, thankfully, there's no harm in saying so.
