Is it spring yet?!

The truth is, we live in Iowa, so we should never be surprised by the weather. Sometimes, we still are.

Saturday was once again a busy and dangerous day on the roads in Cedar Rapids, and all because of some unexpected snow that fell.

With only flurries initially anticipated, the snow escalated quickly and came down heavily between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. adding up to just under 2 inches Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

These conditions caused slick travel and, according to CBS2/Fox 28, there were responses from Cedar Rapids police to about 52 crashes, which caused at least 5 minor injuries.

One of the biggest accidents took place on I-380, south of Highway 30, as a semi truck rolled over, backing up traffic in the left lanes for some time.

Next on the agenda? Minor accumulations of ICE through Tuesday. Oh, joy. Iowa 511, CBS2/Fox 28 and KDAT will be your go-to sources for weather information and traffic conditions, as always.
