As a person who doesn't have any kids, I can't even imagine the physical and emotional struggles women face when they're pregnant. That's why I'm always VERY careful about what I say and do around women who are expecting. As it turns out, other people are not as courteous.

This morning I came across a story out of North Carolina that is absolutely cringe-worthy. Expectant mother Sherell Bates was shopping at a local Staples when she was asked by a police officer if she had been shoplifting. According to WSOC TV,

"'Mid-transaction, a police officer approached me and insisted he wanted to speak with me,' Bates said. 'He asked what was under my shirt. Initially, I thought he was joking, so my response was, 'Twins,’” Bates said. 'I'm 34 weeks with twins. I'm having a boy and a girl.'"

The police officer wasn't joking, so Bates lifted up her shirt a little bit to show him her belly. Apparently, the store had troubles in the past with people hiding merchandise in their shirt, so the manager was suspicious. Not surprisingly, Bates said the encounter was humiliating.

This story got us thinking about the other types of things pregnant woman have to deal with from other people. We asked moms to share their stories with the question: what's something you should NEVER say or do to a pregnant woman? Here are some of the responses:
