The girls had crossed a state highway, waiting for the bus to arrive. As the bus stopped, with lights flashing, the girls were preparing to board it when a Chevy Silverado passed the bus on the right side, striking the two children. Seven other kids were on the bus at the time of the accident.

The six-year-old kindergartener died at the scene. Her four-year-old sister was treated and released at an area hospital with minor injuries.

The Wisconsin State Patrol and Waushara County Sheriff's Office are investigating. Witnesses report it was very foggy at the time of the accident.

The driver of the truck and the two girls have not been identified.
