In what is a depressing story that lasted years and years, this Wisconsin man finally can have some peace. A Kane County, Illinois story ran about "unclaimed remains" and a woman noticed a name. HuffPost

Back in 1987, Jerry Wolf of Carpentersville, IL lost his two month old daughter to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Jerry and his wife were young and broke, and had no choice but to leave to remains of their daughter.

Jerry's mother is the one that noticed a name in a publication about "unclaimed remains" and knew that as her granddaughter. The remains were placed in a storage locker, that was later sold. Some of the "unclaimed remains" stayed with the coroners office, some with various police departments, and some in a tin at a local Goodwill store.

As it turns out, Jerry was able to reunite with his deceased daughter and take ownership of his daughter's remained...26 years later!

It's a sad state of affairs, but there are plenty of these remains that go unclaimed. Along with this story, the remains of 47 different people were left unclaimed.

“We can’t force them to do it. Some can’t afford to bury (the remains). Some of them just don’t want them.” - Rob Russell Kane County Coroner

Once Jerry was connected with the proper people to get the remains of his daughter back, he was super happy.

“I couldn’t wait. I had to have her back again with her family. My life is complete." - Jerry Wolf
