The call to dispatch was something like this: "A 70-year-old woman has been punched by a cashier multiple times." What has become of this world?

An emergency call to the police department in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin on Wednesday, July 7 described the above just after 7 p.m. at the Walmart Supercenter in the town of just under 27,000.

The woman involved is PK Shader. Both Shader and 17-year-old Jazareia Velasquez, who's charged with attacking her, told police it all started with a verbal argument between the two. According to a criminal complaint obtained by CBS 58, Shader wanted to talk to a manager following negative communication with Velasquez. Shader told CBS 58,

The manager was right there watching the interaction. She (Velasquez) left and I looked at the manager and I said do you let her talk to all your customers like that? I didn’t get a reply. As I was leaving I thought I really want to know what her name is because I want to send it to corporate.

That's when Shader decided to snap a photo of Velasquez. It didn't go well. Shader said,

She went crazy. She flew and she punched me with her fist right here (in the face) over and over again.

Despite her injuries, Shader didn't require medical attention. However, what's nearly as disturbing as a 70-year-old woman being attacked is that it happened in front of other people and Shader said no one made any attempt to help her. Shader says while she wouldn't expect anyone to put themselves in harm's way if you see something like that, please at least call the police. Amen.

Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin police charged Velasquez with aggravated battery to an elderly person and disorderly conduct. Shader says she will file a restraining order against her.

Walmart released a statement that read:

We want all of our customers to have a pleasant shopping experience in our stores. The associate involved has been suspended, and we continue to assist law enforcement in the ongoing investigation.

Shader says she's not going to allow what happened to impact her life. She told CBS 58, "The biggest part of this is not allowing myself to be afraid. I refuse, I refuse to be afraid."
