So, you have watched what many people are saying was the best group stage ever at a World Cup, and you are thirsting for more soccer action.

Well, guess what?

Soccer season does not end after the once in four-year World Cup: it is actually just getting ramped up for a huge 2023.

Just days after the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar, the Carabao Cup Round of 16 will take place in England, and the Premier League will resume on Boxing Day (December 26). From then, we will go full-throttle until the end of the European domestic campaigns near the end of May.

But for many fans, bettors, and Iowa mobile sports book apps, the club season will not end until Saturday, June 10. What is significant about that date, you ask?

That is the date set for the UEFA Champions League Final at the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey. Usually, the Champions League group stage (as well as the Europa League and the new Europa Conference League) would just be ending in the second week of December. But the winter World Cup moved the group stage matches up a month, and we already know which teams will contest the eight Round of 16 ties starting on February 14-15, 2023.

Here are the eight ties:

Leipzig vs Manchester City

Club Brugge vs Benfica

Liverpool vs Real Madrid

AC Milan vs Tottenham Hotspur

Frankfurt vs Napoli

Dortmund vs Chelsea

Inter vs Porto

Paris Saint-Germain vs Bayern

Interestingly, the teams with the second and third best odds to win the tournament with most sports books in NJ as well will face off in the tie of the round, as PSG will face Bayern Munich. But there are other high-level matchups, including one that is a rematch of the 2022 final: Real Madrid v Liverpool, which also happens to have the fourth and fifth-best odds to win the title.

The team at the top of the odds by a clear margin has never won this competition, and in fact has only been to one final: Manchester City.

Could a team come from down the odds board, like Real Madrid did last season, to win the title in June?

Maybe: there are some good teams, like Napoli, Chelsea (2021 winners), and even Tottenham. It could be very interesting to see how the winter World Cup will shape the rest of the 2022-23 campaign for so many teams, whether there will be more injuries from the added games, or whether the winter transfer market could be the key for some of the teams chasing glory.

Here are the odds to win the European Cup.
