If you're like my wife and love to take photos, this one is for you.

The City of Cedar Rapids has announced a huge, permanent art installation indoors at the U.S. Cellular Center. According to a media release, it will include a "gallery of community-submitted photography." The city says the photos should "capture the essence of Cedar Rapids' buildings, landmarks, or neighborhoods... (They should) capture a local's perspective that reflects the essence of Cedar Rapids (and surrounding communities), celebrating the everyday, ordinary details of places and things, rather than the more obvious iconic Cedar Rapids' landmarks."

Artist John Fleming will be doing the art, which is expected to be installed in September. It will be called 'Portraits of Iowa,' and will feature around 340 cropped photographs on clear acrylic sheets. Each photo will be between eight and eighteen inches and the piece will be 36-feet tall! You can see some of Fleming's work HERE.

Photographs must be color, with a maximum size of 2 MB each. You can submit up to five photos HERE. Photos shouldn't be close-up portraits. The submission deadline is Friday, July 10, 2020. No matter your photography skill level, please send in your photos.

Here are some of our favorite Cedar Rapids photos. Remember, the photos you submit can be from surrounding communities, as well. Share your photos below and be sure to submit them HERE by July 10.
