Ariana Grande was seen spending time with ex-boyfriend Ricky Alvarez in New York City on New Year's Day.

Paparazzi snapped photos of the former couple strolling through Manhattan together. Grande was seen sporting a large brown puffer coat with her signature black over-the-knee boots and a face mask covering her nose and mouth while Alvarez cut a casual figure in tan pants and a denim jacket.

A second photo of the pair showed them standing together, seemingly holding one another's hands. Grande, 25, and Alvarez have remained friends following their split, but fans couldn't help but hope there was a possible reconciliation.

"I know they're good friends but I really want them to go out again," one user tweeted.

Another said, "they're so cute, im so glad seeing how ricky [is] taking care of ariana. i stan."

Alvarez recently posted a hilarious reaction to Grande's single, "thank u, next," on which she name drops all her exes. Of him, she said: "wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I look back and laugh." Grande posted a clip of Alvarez's reaction on her Instagram Story, laughing and apologizing.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I'm sorry u got the worst line it was meant v lovingly," she wrote.

This isn't the first time fans have speculated about the pair getting back together. In December, Alvarez posted a photo of himself wearing a mustard-colored sweater, which Grande commented on.

"These colors are sick," she wrote.

Fans took the comment and ran with it, only to have the "thank u, next" singer shut it down quickly. She assured Arianators there was nothing going on between her and her former beau.

"We're friends everyone take a big ol breather," she responded.

Grande and Alvarez, who used to be her backup dancer, were rumored to be a couple in June 2015. They parted ways around July 2016, however.
