With the recent announcement that Superintendent Brad Buck would be leaving the Cedar Rapids Community School District in July, an interim successor has already been chosen.

Noreen Bush is expected to be elevated from Deputy Superintendent with approval at the next school board meeting this Friday, May 3. She has been with the district since 2017, previously serving the College Community Schools as Director of Secondary Education. District spokesperson Akwi Nji told the Gazette

Due to the timing of Monday’s announcement (late April) as well as a need to continue our work, the Board of Directors is recommending we proceed with naming an interim superintendent

With a familiar face at the helm, the district can continue its work seamlessly and put in place a thorough search and succession plan, said Nji. Earlier this week, Buck took the Superintendent job at Waukee Community Schools in Central Iowa effective July 1.
