Of all of the things our city needs right now, I'd put this on the bottom portion of the list.

According to KWWL, "A mini-golf course could be in Cedar Rapids' future."

That's right, the plan is to build a course near the Twin Pines Golf Course on the NE side of Cedar Rapids. The city is hoping to generate more revenue within the golf course system. I don't know about you, but this doesn't sound like a huge moneymaker.

Don't get me wrong, mini-golf is fun and we all enjoy playing. I just think there are improvements that could be made to the existing city courses that would make more sense. I also think the city could advertise the courses we already have and try and get more people to golf here in the "City of Five Seasons."

The KWWL story said the cost of the mini-golf course would be right around $500,000. That's a big price tag and I feel it would take a long time to get a return on that investment.

The story also mentioned the current golf system has a deficit of about $170,000 in 2020. It sounds like the department does need the revenue, but I'm not sure this is the best idea.
