The Cedar Rapids Community School District Board of Directors has decided they no longer need to continue their search for the next Superintendent to succeed Brad Buck, who left for the same position at Waukee Schools in May 2019.

Noreen Bush has been serving on an interim basis since then and was hired as the permanent superintendent on Wednesday, February 26. She would reportedly be the first woman to hold the position in the Cedar Rapids Community School District.

The hiring becomes effective July 1st, with a three-year contract and financial terms not disclosed. District officials said Bush is "precisely what our students and staff, our district, and our community need in the next Superintendent."

Bush started with the district as a facilitator in 2015, working up to Deputy and then Associate Superintendent, before being named interim and now permanent Superintendent. Bush spoke in a statement on the CRCSD website, saying:
