No tricks, just treats of the sweet and educational variety will be handed out by Marion police on Halloween.

While cities to continue to host community-wide trick-or-treating hours on Halloween, it's more organized events like one coming up in Marion that seem to be a growing trend, for safety's sake.

You can meet and greet officer Davis of the Marion Police Department while celebrating Halloween with a special event that treats your kiddos to more than just candy. On that night, Wednesday, October 31, visit Marion PD headquarters for a fun party, without worrying about the safety or whereabouts of your kids.

It's called "Booked by A Cop", and in addition to the fun of collecting sweet treats, the kids can also enjoy educational ones. From 6-8 p.m., officers will be on site to hand out candy and books.

It's part of an initiative started by QUOTA International to collect and distribute books to children at special events like this one. Costumes are welcome, but not required. Your mini-police officers or firefighters would enjoy meeting their heroes, and your little Shrek or Princess Leia are invited too.

Marion Police headquarters' address is 6315 US-151 in Marion. Happy Halloween!
