Clear Creek-Amana Students Arrested After Guns Found
Two Clear Creek-Amana students were arrested after drugs and firearms were found in their possession.
It happened as area law enforcement agencies were performing a K-9 training exercise on campus. Cops discovered they may have had reason to check two vehicles in the parking lot of the Tiffin school and subsequently found a handgun in each car, and drugs in one of them.
A 16 and 17-year-old were each taken into custody, charged with the Class D felony of carrying weapons on school grounds. One of the students was also booked on a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.
Police assured that there was no ongoing threat to the safety of other students and staff at the school and did not believe the two incidents were connected.
No word if the students knew police would be on campus doing K-9 training exercises and pressed their dumb luck, or if it was just a coincidence.
The two unnamed teenagers were taken to the Linn County Juvenile Detention Center in Cedar Rapids.
