Cool, rainy Fall days are descending upon the midwest, with summer still not too far in the rear view mirror for some. Pro baseball's World Series is underway and college baseball's season has since ended.

Saturday Tradition reports that a listener called into a radio show this week during an interview with Huskers' Athletic Director Trev Alberts. The call included a directive to Alberts to formally challenge Iowa athletic director Gary Barta to a game between the two schools on the famed Dyersville, Iowa cornfield ball diamond. You know the one. Yeah, the Field of Dreams.

The Field of Dreams was  just purchased this fall by a group headed up by former major-leaguer Frank Thomas. Major League Baseball has marked its annual territory with a neutral-field game there next August featuring the Reds and Cubs after a successful debut event between the White Sox and Yankees this past summer. It's already been announced that Luther College of Decorah and Briar Cliff College of Sioux City will play in the first college game on the field in 2022. But an even bigger matchup could take place and be televised on the Big Ten Network if Alberts and Barta listen to this fan.

Interest is definitely still heavy for all things FOD right now and a matchup between two Big Ten rivals could be the latest home run for all involved.

Right now there are zero prospective details because it's just a challenge by a fan and is in the hands of the two heads of the respective athletic departments to touch base and see if yet another dream game can happen.
