Courtlin Found the Best Cheese Curds in Iowa This Weekend

A small Northeast Iowa food truck might just have the best cheese curds in the whole state!

Over the weekend, I worked a grand opening event at American Freight in Waterloo. As part of the grand opening, they had a food truck stationed out front that I had never heard of before. It was called Boyd's, and the truck had a photo on the side of it that read, "Voted Best Curds in Northeast Iowa." Obviously I had to put that claim to the test.

I've eaten a LOT of cheese curds since moving to Iowa almost nine years ago, but I can confidently say that the ones from Boyd's are the best I've ever had. They were made-to-order, so when I got them they were fresh and hot and messy and magical. Even though I was incredibly full because I had just left an event where I had to sample 15 different chilis, I still ate almost all of them. They were so good that I just couldn't resist.

Boyd's is a food trailer out of Fairbank, Iowa that travels all throughout the Northeast portion of the state. There was also a Boyd's Bar in Fairbank, but it closed back in February of 2023.
