We may not all agree on the state's best Thanksgiving side dish as determined by a recent survey from Zippia. But, as the day of thanks and feasting with family approaches, one thing's for sure, not many of us are going to turn down dessert! In this case, we're talking about PIE. Apple, cherry, pumpkin, pecan, or a unique choice that was just chosen as Iowa's Best Pie by Food & Wine Magazine.

Ironically, it's attributed to a  place where you can get the whole turkey day meal. The Ox Yoke Inn takes the honors for its sour cream raisin pie. As we mentioned earlier this week, Ox-Yoke is among a number of restaurants with a heat-and-serve take-home meal special for Thanksgiving. The menu does include pre-order information for pies but unfortunately, the award-winning sour cream raisin is not listed. It's award-winning as in a $150 award from the Iowa State Fair's best pie contest this summer, and its creator Anita Van Gundy. It can't hurt to ask. Check out this link for details on the Ox Yoke's Thanksgiving menu as well as others offering one.

Should you wish to attempt one of these delectable treats on your own, I pulled a recipe from Taste Of Home:

1 cup raisins
2/3 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup 2% milk
3 large egg yolks, room temperature
1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional
1 pie shell (9 inches), baked
meringue:
3 large egg whites, room temperature
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons sugar

The article specifically singles out one particular type of pie, but we'll just go with the assumption the entire delicious selection at Ox Yoke is getting the nod. Happy Thanksgiving!
