It's always fun to see what weird and random holiday it is. January 19, 2021 is National Pop Corn Day. In honor of one of the best snacks the three of us on 'Marks In The Morning' had to play a fun game.

Popcorn and Iowa's history is slightly intertwined. I mean...if you didn't know that already you probably could have guessed it with all of the corn fields around the state. The American Pop Corn Company was founded in Iowa! Right here in the corn state!

Modern day popcorn as we now know it was born in 1914 in Sioux City, Iowa.

Bringing it back to the Cedar Valley---I picked up a few of the classic popcorn flavors from 'Here's What's Poppin'. Some of the flavors went over really well with the crew and some of them...well some of them were just Johnny's favorites.

1. Jalapeno Cheddar

This was a wild flavor of popcorn. The guys LOVED this one, but it might not have been the best choice to have early in the morning. If you know Johnny, you'll know that he is a big spice/hot sauce guy. Obviously this was his favorite.

2. Caramel Corn

Caramel Corn is a CLASSIC, so this obviously is one of my favorite. I was actually surprised by how much JP liked it. He kept picking at this popcorn (with some help from myself) throughout the rest of the show. You can't go wrong with caramel.

3. Dill

Johnny mentioned this flavor to me right before I dropped by the store, so I knew I HAD to grab it. While it is salty... it is also a bit unexpected. It tastes EXACTLY like Dill pickle. I would for sure try this one again, but maybe with a side of burger flavored popcorn...

4. Rainbow

If you have a major sweet tooth and LOVE fruity pebbles like me this one might be for you. JP made me try this during our game of chubby bunny. It is so sweet, and he mentioned that his kids love this one too.
