Iowa Oktoberfest Returns to Waterloo
Iowa Oktoberfest is returning to Waterloo this fall. Taking place right in the heart of Downtown Waterloo over the course of the final weekend in September, the event is anticipated to be even bigger than ever.
The party will be set up around Anton’s German Bier Garden and on East 4th Street, just north of the river, according to the official event website.
It will be a celebration of German culture with games, live music, food, and of course drinks! Admission for the event is free!
Games & Contests
Stein Hoist
This is described on the official event website as a, "traditional Bavarian endurance contest" that involves contestants holding a beer in their outstretched arm for as long as possible.
It takes the phrase, "hold my beer!" to a whole new level!
Beers & Hammers
The name of the game essentially describes it perfectly. Contestants have to hammer nails into a tree and drink every time they mess up.
Fall Market
This year, Iowa Oktoberfest officials are trying out something new on Saturday, September 30th! There will be a market sale where guests can check out some fall essentials like mums, hay bales, and pumpkins! It kicks off at noon.
All of the proceeds will go towards the organization so they can put on more fun events like this in the future.
Entertainment Schedule
Friday, September 29th 2023
Marv Nissel Band: 5:30PM to 8:00PM
Donny (In the Gazebo): 8:00PM
Saturday's entertainment schedule will be announced at a later date!
