Galena, Illinois. Salina, Kansas. Traverse City, Michigan. Stillwater, Minnesota. What do all these towns have in common? They are among the best small towns to visit across the United States, according to Thrillist.

The site based its rankings on towns with populations of less than 60,000 where you can still experience great culture, adventure, nightlife and cheap living. 60,000 doesn't seem like a very small town to me but they picked them for each state, and we don't have to look too far for Iowa's.

Decorah was singled out as a town with a population just under 8,000. Some of its highlights include Toppling Goliath Brewery and the National Norwegian-American Museum. Congratulations to Decorah, one of our relatively close Eastern Iowa neighbors. Again, Galena made the list, too, which isn't far from us either.
