Is This The Best Burrito Spot in Eastern Iowa?
Yesterday my morning co-host Kerri took me to what might be the best burrito place I've ever been to. We all know the names of the big chain Mexican restaurant places but what about this Cedar Falls gem?
Pablo's Mexican Grill is located at 310 Main St, Cedar Falls. It's going to be hard for me to eat a burrito anywhere else and try to not compare it to this place. I'm a die-hard pork fan when it comes to burritos and the meal I had yesterday is going to be hard to top.
If Iowa is one of the biggest pork-producing states in the country, you'd think every restaurant has its pork recipes down, right? Most do a pretty good job but some do it better than others. I'd put Pablos in the "do it better than others" category.
They have this incredible garlic and lime sauce I included with my meal and I will forever be trying to copy the recipe at home. My cooking is pretty bad so I'll be trying and failing for a long time.
There was also something just chill about this place. The man who made my food was great. He was patient, nice, answered questions I had, and didn't make me feel like I was slowing him down or being annoying.
I don't know if this is the aesthetic they're going for and I'm definitely not speaking for Pablo's but it kind of felt like a hole-in-the-wall dive bar kind of spot. Something cool and unique, which I absolutely loved. You almost felt like you knew some secret place to show your friends, even though it's located right on Main St.
Plus, downtown Main St in Cedar Falls is just a beautiful place to walk around. With all of the shops, the winding and curvy road, it's just a fun place to be. You always see people walking around and checking out places to go and restaurants to visit.
Look at the size of this thing!
I can't say enough great things about Pablo's. As I mentioned before, we all know the names of the big chain Mexican restaurants and burrito places. I like knowing we have an incredible burrito place to call our own, smack dab in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
The only thing I wish I would've done is saved some of my food to eat later. That's another true test if a burrito spot is good or not. Is it just as good if not better when eaten as leftovers?
