It’s Already Time to Do This In Iowa This Weekend
Welcome to November!
Do you remember what's about to sneak up on us this weekend?
Most people only use the clocks on their phones, computers and other devices now that automatically do it for them, but if you still have any analog/manual clocks, set them back one hour this Saturday night, November 4--or by 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, November 5th. It is time for the end of daylight saving time, as we revert back to standard time. Yes, grammar stickler that I am, I am pointing out as well that it's saving, not savings.
I know I am looking forward to it not being so dark in the morning anymore, how about you? On the other hand, it darkens much earlier in the evening/afternoon after this weekend's change.
Some states don't do daylight saving time. Indiana was one of them, until 2006 when they began observing it. Other than that, Hawaii, most of Arizona, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, the US Minor Outlying Islands, and the US Virgin Islands do not bother with this ritual.
That extra hour of sleep is going to be refreshing, but what are your thoughts? Should we eliminate the ritual of daylight saving time?
Ending it in Iowa is still under discussion, as of earlier this year, but for now, remember to "fall back" one hour this weekend.
By the way, don't forget to also check and change the batteries in your carbon monoxide and smoke detectors this weekend.
