Dating in 2023 sounds like an absolute nightmare. With the advance of technology and social media, it's never been easier to connect with other people, so why does finding a romantic interest seem to plague so many? We can literally communicate with just about anyone in the world using our cell phones.

I've been out of the dating game for quite some time and I'm pretty thankful for that. I've been with my fiance for the past 7 years. We met at a bar and the rest is kind of history. Actually, almost all of the relationships in my family started out at a bar...that sure says a lot about my family.

I've always been glad that we met in person and had to talk to each other face-to-face. I have no clue how any guy talks to a girl or vis versa, on DMs or Tinder. I would feel so cringy. My cell phone flirting is likely atrocious.

Single Cedar Valley has teamed up with Lark Brewing for a speed dating event on June 13th. I've never participated in a speed dating night but I did look up some of the advantages of speed dating. According to a quick Google search, these are some of the biggest advantages of speed dating, according to Very Well Mind.

• It gives you the chance to meet face-to-face and see if there is an instant attraction
• You can normally tell pretty quickly if you have any chemistry with the person
• It saves a lot of time and effort
• It can save money
• You have the chance to meet a lot of different people and all of them are (supposed to be) there for the same reason you are

If you're single and looking for that special someone, this actually seems like a pretty fun thing to try. If it doesn't work? Who cares. At least you got to have a fun time at Lark Brewing and got to enjoy some delicious food out of it.

There will be 3 rounds of speed dating and according to the event's Facebook page, there have been over 80 connections made this year! These dates will be split into two different groups depending on your age. There's the 27-47 age group and the 47+ group. Tickets are $35 and that will include admission and appetizers. Attendees can also purchase drinks at the bar, which will include cocktail specials.
