Iowa’s Largest Manufacturing Employer Rebounds From 2020
2020 was a difficult year for many Iowans. Health issues and empoyment issues were the two major issues associated with COVID-19. While health is always the most important, employment needs to be high on any family's list as we all need to pay the bills and keep food on our tables. If you are an employee of John Deere, Iowa’s largest manufacturing employer, 2021 has been kind to your employer so far.
John Deere reported a net income of over three billion so far
In only about six months, Radio Iowa reports the farm equipment giant has reported a solid net income of over three billion. This compares to only 1.2 billion in 2020. John Deere reported strong second-quarter net sales. Sales were up 34-percent, as net income was almost $1.8 billion dollars for the quarter. That compared to $666 million from the quarter that ended a year ago shows very strong growth year-over-year.
John Deere operates several manufacturing plants in northeast Iowa and has a tractor museum in downtown Waterloo. They've been hiring new employees in 2021, another sign of growth and pandemic bounceback.
John Deere continues charitable initiatives
As Iowa and the Unites States begin emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic, not all countries are there yet. Hard hit India has been breaking daily case records. CBS2 reports John Deere has donated $2.7 million to help the country fight the pandemic. The company is working with the United Way to provide oxygen generator plants, oxygen concentrators, Ambulances, ventilators, child ventilators, and more according to the CBS2 report. The company is headquartered in Moline, Illinois.
