I can't wait for KDAT's Cedar Rapids Kids Fest. This family-friendly day for kids of all ages will be lots of fun...and a great learning experience for the little ones too! It's Saturday, October 25 from 10a.m.-1 p.m. at the Helen G. Nassif YMCA/Downtown Cedar Rapids. Kids can engage in a variety of arts & crafts projects, participate in sporting activities, exciting learning opportunities, and most importantly, show off their Halloween costumes in the costume contest! Every child will receive a goody bag from Mercy Medical Center. Lindale Dental Care will be giving away a $100 Toys R’ Us gift card every hour!

Tickets are $5 at the door. Kids 17 & under are free.

While attending on the 25th, you can help a great Cedar Rapids organization. Take $1 off the ticket price by bringing a non-perishable food item donation for HACAP. (If ou buy two adult tickets, bring two items to get $1 off each ticket).

HACAP [Hawkeye Area Community Action Program] began service for Linn County in 1965, following the enactment of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. This act provided for the development of community action programs that provide services, assistance, and other activities...to give promise of progress toward elimination of poverty.
This federal law provided for community-based efforts to minimize the negative impacts of low-wage incomes upon families and the community overall. In 1968, Linn, Johnson and Jones Counties merged to form Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, Inc. Iowa and Benton Counties joined HACAP in 1973 and Washington County was added in 1981. Today, HACAP provides a variety of anti-poverty programs and collaborates with community partners to serve individuals and families within this six-county region.

Such a great organization. We are excited to have them at our event. So bring those food items, help out those in need and join us at KidsFest 2014 on the 25th.
