Linn-Mar is adding two new schools to its district and with that might come other changes.

District officials say it's almost a certainty that bus routes and schedules are going to have to change, and adjusted class start times might be a possibility as well.

A consulting firm looked at the cost of adding 8 to 10 new buses, and they concluded it would set the district back about $60,000. Couple that with a shortage of school bus drivers, and that option is not considered feasible.

Starting classes earlier for elementary and later for high school would give the limited pool of qualified bus drivers more time to adjust to the expanding routes. Whatever changes are made are expected to cause minimal impact to families, and these changes could be voted on as soon as January.

In the meantime, the school board is seeking any feedback they can get from parents before making a decision.
