Keeping unused medicines in your home has become a major public safety and health issue in recent years, and local law enforcement has been taking action to help you eliminate the problem, anonymously and without question or judgement.

This Saturday, October 27th, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., the Marion Police Department hosts its sixteenth "Drug Take-Back". This is the 16th opportunity in eight years for you to prevent pill abuse and theft by getting these drugs out of your home.

Stop by their headquarters and have your pills disposed of safely and properly at the  Marion Police Department, 6315 Hwy 151, and take part in this program put on by the Marion Police Department and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

The DEA CANNOT accept liquids or needles, only drug pills and patches. The previous 15 events have been successful in collecting almost 10 million pounds (nearly 5,000 TONS) of unused pills.

With opioids currently a hot-button issue, accidental prescription drug overdoses, misuse and abuse are at alarming highs. Don't let yourself or loved ones be victims or statistics.
