Niabi Zoo Reopening to Members, Public This Weekend

Great news zoo goers! The Niabi Zoo in Coal Valley is officially opening this weekend for the 2021 season. Members will get a special preview on Saturday, and the zoo will be open to the general public starting on Monday.

The Niabi Zoo in Coal Valley is officially opening this weekend for the 2021 season. Members of the Niabi Zoo will get a special preview this Saturday, April 10th, and the zoo will officially open to the public on Sunday, April 11th.

Last year, the Niabi Zoo didn't open until late June. When they reopened last year at the start of Phase IV, officials implemented ticket changes and visiting changes. Those modifications will continue for the 2021 season.

One of the changes made last year to maintain and monitor capacity requirements was requiring all guests, including Niabi Zoo members and Pass holders, to purchase tickets online on the Niabi Zoo website before visiting. You can reserve your ticket here.

With Illinois in Phase IV of their Restore Illinois plan, the Niabi Zoo can reopen at 25% capacity and with certain, temporary, restrictions in place.

The Niabi Zoo will be open from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., seven days a week. The final entry each day will be at 2 p.m.

To start the 2021 season, the zoo will be free to everyone from April 11th - April 17th. Even though entry will be free, zoo goers will still need to register online for a ticket.

Those who plan to go to the Niabi Zoo can choose between two daily 3-hour time frames to go:

• 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (last entry at 11 a.m.)
• 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. (last entry at 2 p.m.)
