No, Cedar Rapids Has Not Turned the Traffic Cameras Back On Yet

About three weeks ago, the Iowa Supreme Court made a decision that a lot of Eastern Iowa drivers are not happy about. KCRG reports:

"The Iowa Supreme Court ruled the Department of Transportation can't order cities, including Cedar Rapids, to move or remove traffic cameras from interstates."

The city of Cedar Rapids stopped issuing tickets from the I-380 tickets back in April of last year in response to another ruling, but now that those cameras have been deemed legal, it's only a matter of time before they get turned back on and tickets start being issued again.

Yesterday was the three-week anniversary of the Supreme Court decision, so KCRG reached out to the Cedar Rapids Police Department to get an update on the situation. They said that the cameras have NOT been turned back on just yet, but that they will let drivers know when it will happen ahead of time.
