And then there were 10!

'American Idol' cut four contestants during last night's episode, and unfortunately, a couple of my favorites were sent packing. I was really bummed to see 16-year-old country singer Riley Thompson sent home, as well as the insanely talented Ashley Hess, who has been one of my favorites since her initial audition. It was also the end of the road for Evelyn Cormier and Eddie Island. Alyssa Raghu, Uché, and Dimitrius Graham were the three singers saved by the judges at the end of the episode.

Overall, I thought last night's episode was a little rough. The singers sounded nervous and slightly unprepared and the show didn't run very smoothly, but I think that's because it was the first week of live episodes. Hopefully, things will get better as the season moves forward.

Per usual, one of my favorite performances this week was from Laci Kaye Booth. Her Monday night performance was Fleetwood Mac's "As Long As You Follow," and I'm happy to report that she is officially in the top 10.

Also, Madison VanDenburg SLAYED on Sunday night! Her version of Alicia Keys' "Fallin'" was perfection:

Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon KILLED again this week with Elton John's "We All Fall in Love Sometimes," and he did so well that Sir Elton himself took time to post about him on social media:

And last but not least, I think Uché deserves some recognition after Sunday night's performance. His version of "Finesse" was easily the most entertaining of the evening, and his dance break was absolutely incredible!
