Sugarland Are Humbled Performing With Indigo Girls in Atlanta [Watch]

It was an especially memorable night when Sugarland both took the stage in their hometown of Atlanta, and had the chance to perform alongside an act that served as an inspiration for their career.

The duo of Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush were playing the Infinite Event Center when they surprised the audience by inviting fellow Atlanta duo, the Indigo Girls, onstage to perform, sending a roar of excited applause through the arena.

The Indigo Girls' Amy Ray and Emily Sailers joined the country stars to perform one of their most noteworthy hits, "Galileo." Nettles took on the first verse before Ray and Sailers joined in on the chorus, the four stars filling the venue with their beautiful harmonies.

Bush held down the fort on acoustic guitar, nailing his solo as Sailers jams alongside him. "I offer thanks to those before me / That's all I've got to say / 'Cause maybe you squandered big bucks in your lifetime / Now I have to pay," Nettles sings, beaming at her idols all the while.

"Atlanta is blessed with some wonderful music, and Kristian and I were blessed to start out under the influence of these next two ladies here," Nettles remarked while introducing the duo she calls an "honor" and a "privilege" to perform with.

"The Indigo Girls played a very influential role in shaping us into the musicians we are today, so you can imagine our excitement to have them join us in our hometown of Atlanta," she added.

Sugarland released Bigger, their first album together in eight years, in June of 2018, and their corresponding Still the Same Tour marks their first touring venturing since 2012. They continue on the road through the summer, wrapping the trek on Sept. 8 in Newark, N.J. at the Prudential Center.
