Terminally Ill Midwest Girl Wants A Letter From Your Dog

Emma Mertens is 7 years old and lives near Madison, Wisconsin. She is also fighting a terminal brain tumor.

Emma is a huge fan of dogs and has a request. Those of us who are dog "parents" know what a positive and therapeutic effect our four-legged friends have on our lives, so let's let them help spread the love to Emma.

She would be delighted to receive greetings, emails and letters from "dogs" around the world to cheer her up. Send her a picture and/or a message from your furbaby. Your pooch is already the light of your life, let them be a special "pen pal" to someone who really needs it.

The Facebook post says: "If anyone has a 4 legged friend, who might want to write Emma, I am sure she would love to hear from them. This terminally ill Wisconsin girl would feel better getting a letter from them."

We think this is a pawsome idea, and our (and our best friends') hearts are with Emma and her family.
