Has anyone else been cranky for months now?

Sure, it has a lot to do with the weather, but Winter happens every year in Iowa. For some people, it's "just how they are". But if you fight a legitimate battle with Seasonal Affective Disorder, you know how bad it can make you feel. Lack of sleep, sleeping too much, feeling lonely, fatigued or just a general sense of apathy are normal this time of year. See a doctor if you feel them too much.

One thing is about to change our moods for the better: more daylight! This Sunday, for the first time in months, we'll still be seeing sunlight at 7 p.m. or later in Cedar Rapids. It's time to spring forward. The start of Daylight Saving Time occurs this weekend. Clocks move ahead one hour this Sunday morning, March 10 at 2 a.m. (or before bed Saturday night if you still have to do any of it manually.) Also, don't forget to replace smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector batteries while you're at it.

We'll lose an hour of sleep that night, but I can't tell you how good it makes me feel to know there is light at the end of this frozen, frigid, demoralizing tunnel. Literally.
