There's a phenomenon you might have heard of called FOMO--the fear of missing out--and a recent study determined which sites cause it the most.

You know how it is. Someone posts photos or worse yet, an outright play-by-play of their amazing night out or vacation on social media, as you sit at home--or work--feeling bored and lonely. Sometimes it's by your own choice, but it still hurts.

The statistics are in, from a study posted by CNN, and YouTube is at the bottom of the list, which is a good thing. This platform makes us feel the "least" bad about ourselves, and somehow maybe even makes us feel better.

Then came Twitter, making us feel the second-least inadequate. It's hard to form an opinion on anything in 140 characters, frankly.

In the middle of the pack is Facebook. I'm really surprised this didn't rank higher on the negativity scale.

On the other hand, Snapchat makes us feel the second-worst about ourselves.

But topping the list as the most negative social media platform? Instagram! The photos are apparently even worse than the lengthy status message. Not only can you post photos, but you can doctor them, possibly making things look even more exciting.

Are you surprised by the results and do you agree with them? Share your thoughts in the comments.
