Slap 'N' Tickle kicked off the 2019 Uptown Friday Nights season just a few weeks ago. If you remember, the weather sucked. It was cold and rainy, and people that braved the elements were huddled around each other just trying to stay warm. It wasn't much fun.

So when the McGrath Amphitheater suddenly have a date open, the Cedar Rapids Jaycees decided to give the band a redo. They're booked for a headlining show next Friday, June 7th.

Cedar Rapids Jaycee Beth Cavalier told me, "They're a great band and they always bring a huge crowd. The weather was miserable a few weeks ago. When the date opened, we wanted to give them another shot to pack the amphitheater!"

I spoke with Curt Burgess, singer and one of the guitar players for the band. He said, "Jimmy, we love the Jaycees and we love Uptown Friday Nights. It's an honor for us to play again, and we're hoping for better weather. We want ALL of our fans to come out and enjoy a great night of music."

With nice weather, I'm thinking Slap 'N' Tickle could set the Uptown attendance record. The band has been selling out clubs and theaters all over the mid-west the last few months. Besides all of the heavy drinking, the band is clicking on all 3 cylinders.

Bass player Jeff Woods told me, "Jz, we love to party. It's what this band is all about. We all have day jobs and wear spandex by night....it's a great life!"

These dudes are weird, but they put on one hell of a show. Tickets are just $5 and can be purchased at the door. Gates open at 5:30 show starts at 6.

I'll see you on Friday, June 7th.
