Woman Dies in UTV Rollover in Rural Johnson County

An Eastern Iowa woman has died in an accident involving a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV).

At about 6pm Thursday (July 17), the Johnson County Sheriff was notified of an accident at a rural residence on Newport Road NE, south of Solon in rural Johnson County.

Deputies determined that a UTV driven by 62 year old Julie Bell of North Liberty, and a passenger, 65 year old Mary Kay Knight of rural Solon, was being operated in a field.
The vehicle subsequently went out of control and rolled, pinning Knight under the UTV.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no indication if Bell sustained any injuries.

The accident was investigated by the Johnson County Sheriff, with assistance from the Solon Fire Department, Johnson County Ambulance, and Johnson County Medical Examiner.

It remains under investigation.
