When I originally wrote this story, it was tough to track down any negative reviews of the beloved "Field of Dreams" movie site in Dyersville. A lot has happened since then, including the site being bought out by a group of investors and developers led by major league baseball star Frank Thomas. What they have planned for the revamping of the site is grandiose, to say the least, and has not sat well with many fans who want the sacred ground in Dyersville to be left alone. A second major league game and a minor league game will take place this summer in the meantime, and for now, let's look at a few reviews that show why you don't know what you've got until it's gone.

We sort of take for granted the nostalgia and good vibes derived from all things Field of Dreams, but do you ever wonder: is there anyone out there who actually DIDN'T think the place was all that and a bag of peanuts? Believe it or not, some people didn't find their visit to be all sunshine and roses. To many, it was overrated at best, and to others, an enormous headache. That's unfortunate.

Most people tried their best to put their negative reviews in a positive light, despite an underwhelming experience. After all, the beloved tourist attraction may still hold a mystique to those who haven't been there. Others just felt like when you've seen it once, you've seen it a million times. Still, others minced absolutely no words that the glorification of the "Field of Dreams" in their mind was absolutely not the reality of the experience.
