With family in Houston, my wife and I decided we'd spend a vacation week down with them for a week.  But to make it more exciting and adventurous, we decided to make it a road trip. There were 2 problems for Day 1 however, as we were to head through Kansas City, ending in Tulsa.  First problem: we didn't leave the house till 1pm, which meant we were WAYYYY behind schedule.  Second problem: after an $800 car repair bill, we didn't have time to get a bigger, more expensive issue repaired... the A/C.  It was so bad, that if we used the A/C, we could snap the main engine belt, which would really ruin our day. So we buckled in ready for a hot trip, and hit the road.

Thanks to the late start, we were unable to make the Hallmark Kaleidoscope at Hallmark headquarters in Kansas City, MO.  We'd be spending an hour do some fun crafts with leftover Hallmark card scraps.  It would've been fun, but our stop at Crayola Cafe made up for it.  However, that continued pushing our schedule back, and our after dark arrival in Tulsa meant moving all Tulsa activities to Day 2, giving us a later start there.  It also left me questioning how well the kids would cope. Luckily, they did just fine.
