Show Cancelation Means one Less Musical Gift for Cedar Rapids
We sure would have enjoyed this show, but alas "The Gift of Christmas" featuring pianist Jim Brickman, scheduled for December 13, 2021 in Cedar Rapids, has been canceled.
If you paid for your tickets by phone, in person at the Paramount Theatre or on a credit card online through ArtsIowa, you will automatically be refunded in around 30 days. All others can request a refund through the original point of purchase.
A Jim Brickman Christmas concert is magical, blending yuletide classics with his own original holiday songs such as "The Gift,” “Sending You A Little Christmas,” “Angel Eyes,” and “If You Believe”.
His Christmas show last year was entirely virtual with these songs and more all on the bill, plus extra fun for the cities he was streaming to, separately and exclusively each night. Money from ticket purchases to these virtual concerts is said to have benefited the top venues in those cities, including Cedar Rapids' Paramount Theatre.
It's unclear why the show this year has been canceled, although the COVID-19 pandemic may still be causing hesitancy for folks to attend events. The fact it would fall on a Monday night probably didn't help. It would have indeed been a fantastic return for Brickman who has been around Iowa multiple times in recent years but not in Cedar Rapids itself for about 5 years. Now, make that at least 6.
But, wait...there is still a chance to get your Christmas on in a BIG way in Cedar Rapids. Read on.
