I can't tell you how many dates, events and occasions of note I have missed lately. I have been very distracted and overwhelmed with work, which is all the more reason to keep better track of things. Oh, I never miss things pertaining to family but a relatively important date passed me by recently.

It completely slipped my mind that October 11 was Daryl Hall's 71st birthday!! As big of a fan as I am, or claim to be, you'd think I'd have this committed to memory every year, but again, I completely forgot.

Meanwhile, I am also regularly behind on blogs at work lately, and I miss things that would be important to you, the listener and reader. Such as award shows, television and movie premieres of note and the like. These sound like first-world problems, but they are important in my job.

I've always been a "fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants" kind of person. "I don't need to write that down, I'll remember it!" Not so much. Chalk it up to getting old, or back to the above mentioned increase in responsibilities and distractions, but it's a problem. I think it's time for me to stop by Dollar Tree, pick up a couple calendars and start spending more time mapping out my life. In biz terminology, we call it "show prep". Besides the fact I could set the calendar in my phone for certain things as well. I never thought I'd get to the point where I need to take copious notes to remember things, but I am there.

Meanwhile, Daryl, if you're reading, I love you and I am sorry for forgetting your big day. It will never happen again.
