What started as a report of shots fired Labor Day afternoon in Iowa City has resulted in two people being arrested. They both are facing a pair of charges after the Monday incident.

Iowa City Police officers were called to Iowa City Marketplace's west side, at 1660 Sycamore Street, just before 4 p.m. Monday afternoon. When they arrived, they found evidence that the building had been hit by gunfire and also recovered spent shell casings in the parking lot.

During their investigation, Iowa City police identified a pair of suspects and arrested 29-year-old Michael P. Shapcott and 27-year-old Sara R. Schrader. In a release, Iowa City Police say the two were arrested Monday and this morning each was charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon. Both charges are Class C felonies. Shapcott and Schrader are each being held on $25,000 cash bond in the Johnson County Jail.
