It's baaack!

Saturday, May 26 is a huge day in downtown Cedar Rapids. The Farmers Market is back! We've been waiting all winter for this big bi-weekly summer event to return.

This first market features an exciting array of live entertainment as well as your favorite local vendors offering locally-grown and made produce, meat, flowers, art and gifts. Some special entertainment will be lining this weekend's market:

9:30 a.m-noon: Music on the main stage at Greene Square featuring local singer-songwriter Anji Kat featuring Christopher Cesa.

9:30 a.m.-10 a.m.: Jazzercise

All day: Performing throughout the day will be the unique percussion group "Junk Funk" with real and improvised percussion instruments (using buckets, pans, bottles, etc.)

All day: Virtual Adventure Tours. Interact with different virtual experiences such as riding a rollercoaster or riding on the back of an ankylosaurus in prehistoric times.

Look for Papa Balloon, Sprinkles and Sparkles the Clown and Face Painting by Face Painting of Cedar Rapids throughout the market all morning.

Again, the Farmers Market runs from 7:30 a.m.-noon. Get downtown early to find parking, beat the crowd, and to try to beat me to the front of the breakfast burrito line!

Learn more at the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance Facebook page for this event.

If you can't make it this weekend, don't worry, you'll have plenty of other chances with markets scheduled on June 2, June 16, July 7, July 21, August 4, August 18 and September 1. See you there!
