The search continues in the Des Moines area for suspects in two separate shootings that have left two police officers dead. Police officials say they are doubling their efforts, and that there is a clear and present danger to police officers.

The first shooting claimed the life of an Urbandale police officer, and happened in Urbandale, at 70th street and Aurora, at around 1:06 a.m. Twenty minutes later, the second deadly shooting happened in Des Moines at Merle Hay Road and Sheridan. That shooting claimed the life of a Des Moines police officer. Officials describe booth shootings as ambush-style attacks and that both officers were simply sitting in their cars doing their job.

Officials expect to update the public with another press conference at around 10 a.m. this morning.
