‘Deck the District’ in Cedar Rapids is Coming Up Next Month
An annual holiday event here in Cedar Rapids is still on for 2020! Deck the District will officially be happening December 4th through 6th.
According to the event's Facebook page:
"Deck the District is a collaborative community holiday celebration in Cedar Rapids, Iowa's Czech Village/New Bohemia Main Street District."
In addition to fun promotions from different retailers in the area, there are a few events happening at Deck the District. Here are some of the activities you can enjoy over the course of the three-day event:
- Old World Christmas Market
- National Czech and Slovak Museum
- December 5th and 6th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Featuring vendors, a bake sale, and free admission to the museum galleries
- Very Cherry Holiday Open House
- The Cherry Building
- December 5th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Featuring a Cherry Building tenant fair, the Center Space Art Show, Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio workshops & gallery store, and socially-distant Santa
- Story Time with Santa (VIRTUAL)
- December 6th from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
- Open Art Galleries
- CSPS Hall
- December 4th through 6th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Black-Owned Business Holiday Market
- NewBo City Market
- December 5th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, Deck the District will look a little different than it has in past years. For example, this year's tree lighting with the Czech Village Association will be virtual and broadcast live on Facebook. In addition, many events do require you to wear a mask and stay socially distant from others. You can read more on Deck the District HERE.
