Continuing our look back at the awesome '80s is 1983. Dynasty and Dallas were embroiled in a heated prime-time battle. You didn't have to miss a minute of the drama if you had $400 or more to blow on a VCR at the time.

Iowa made a Sweet 16 appearance in basketball, losing to Villanova.

A gallon of milk was $2.20 and the rather pointless invention of caffeine-free soda came about. The federal debt was $1,377,210,000,000.00. Pocket change compared to that number today. Wowza.

On a lighter note, Men at Work topped the charts with a musical brochure about their homeland, while Toto were hopscotching us to yet a different locale.
