Saving perhaps the best year of the '80s for last, the Retro Cafe Blog takes us back to the year Dynasty and Dallas continued their rivalry for prime time drama domination. According to 1980sflashback,com, a new home cost $97,600 and the median household income was $22,415. A postage stamp was 20 cents.

It was 1984, and Beverly Hills Cop and Ghostbusters were the top movies, as noted again by 1980sflashback.com. The Apple Macintosh computer was introduced, and kids were jealous of their big brother or sister, who could get into a movie they couldn't see after the PG-13 movie rating classification debuted.

An outstanding year, that's for sure. Share your '80s memories in the comments and thanks for checking out my Retro Cafe Blog. What themes would you like to see here, now that we've concluded our featured series of each individual year?
