It's back! The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival has returned with a mix of in-person and drive-through events that were in limbo last year due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The best news came last week when they announced that the Freedom Festival parade would return to an in-person format in its previous original location. That will take place on Saturday, June 26 from 10 a.m. to noon in downtown Cedar Rapids. Learn more here.

Other events this year include the Balloon Glow, being held at Hawkeye Downs on Tuesday, June 22. Alisabeth Von Presley will provide entertainment to the fans and spectators with a number of great food and drink vendors on hand for the festivities that are set to include a record-breaking number of balloons in 2021.

Let's not forget the main event that concludes the festival each summer, with the Celebration of Freedom fireworks on July 4th.

No matter how many of these events and anything in between you'd like to attend, as usual, your Freedom Festival button gets you into all of it. You can purchase them at Hy-Vee or Casey's stores, or you can listen this week for a chance to win a 4-pack from 104-5 KDAT. We'll be playing a cue to call in between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. this week. We'll be lighting off fireworks in the studio! (OK, maybe just the sound of fireworks). When you hear it, be caller 7 to 365-1045 and you win! We'll also give app users a heads-up shortly before the cue to call is coming, so download it now.

We can't wait to see you for all the fun at the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival.
