You Can ‘Adopt’ a Healthcare Worker in Johnson County
You can show your appreciation for a hardworking healthcare worker this holiday season!
According to a new article from CBS 2, Project Better Together has launched a new program where you can "adopt" a healthcare worker in Johnson County. The official website says:
"Health Care workers in Johnson County have been working tirelessly to take care of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many have made personal sacrifices — including isolating themselves from family and friends – in order to keep their patients safe. During this Holiday season, we wanted to show our thanks with an 'Adopt a Johnson County Health Care Worker' initiative."
Here's how it works: if you know a deserving healthcare worker, you can nominate them for the program, or, if you are a healthcare worker, you can nominate yourself. You can also sign up to "adopt" one of the nominated healthcare workers. If you sign up to adopt, you will be paired with a healthcare worker and encouraged to send them a gift. Some ideas listed on the website include an encouraging card/drawing, a mental health care package, or a gift card. There is no minimum or maximum amount that you have to spend on your designated person. The post says that the only goal is to "show healthcare workers that have been working tirelessly during this pandemic that we support them and all they are doing to keep our community safe."
If you're interested in nominating someone or signing up to "adopt" one of these local heroes, you can get all the information you need on Project Better Together HERE.
